Baby Sienna

Apparently I only write when we have babies, so here comes another "blog" entry just to document our new little one coming into the world.  This will have a lot of details, so if you're not interested...don't read :)

This pregnancy definitely was not an easy one, well atleast in the beginning.  I of course was sicker than the other two times, especially in the beginning, and this time I had two little rugrats to run after.  So it's easy to say that this time around there were a lot more challenges (good challenges of course).  We also had our best friends from Brazil, Tiago & Andreza come stay with us for about a month and a half, and clearly they decide to come when I am 8 months pregnant.  However, it was wonderful to have them here even if I could barely move :)

As any pregnant woman knows, those last few weeks are never comfortable and all of us can't wait for that due date, not only to hold our little one in our arms, but also to not be pregnant anymore!!!  Well, hoping that this baby would come at 38 weeks just like the last two I decided to tackle that darn "S" hill again next to my parents' house to see if it would put me into labor like it did before.  I was already dilated to a 2 and 50% effaced which for me is normal.  Usually the last two months I'm always dialted to atleast a 2.  For some reason I was really set on the idea of having a May baby and even though it was April 29th I was just ready for my little one to come.  Well I went on that crazy walk with my mom, Nikki, and my girls, and unlike the last time I didn't go into labor the next day.  I did have an appointment with my Dr. though and at that point I was at a 3 1/2 and 90% effaced.  My Dr. decided that I wouldn't last much longer so he decided to set a date for me to be induced which would have been the next Wednesday May 8th, my dad's birthday, we thought that was a good date for baby to come.  But apparently baby had a different idea.......... My Dr. told me to make sure that if my water doesn't break first to wait until my contractions were five minutes apart for ATLEAST an hour to head to the hospital.  Up to that point I had only had little teeny contractions that were barely even noticeable and with my two previous deliveries I really never had a painful contraction because I was able to get an epidural in time!  Little did we know, this time was not going to go the same!!!
The one thing that I kept saying from the beginning was how nervous I was that I wasn't even going to make it to the hospital because my labor and deliveries kept getting so much faster with each one.  I would even joke about how I was going to camp out in front of the hospital.
My due date was still a couple weeks away, and even though I was hoping that "S" hill would start something, I really wasn't expecting anything.  However, here we were week 38 and it was 7:18 in the morning and I was woken up by a pretty strong contraction.  I didn't really think anything of it, however, I decided to get up anyway.  About ten minutes later I had another contraction and then ten minutes later another.  That morning Andelyn had a field trip for preschool that I didn't want her to miss out on so I started to get her ready.  By that time my contractions were getting a little bit stronger and closer together, but nothing real consistent.  I decided to wake up Vagner to let him know that I thought the baby was coming.  So he got ready and helped get Andelyn ready for school.  By 8:15 my contractions were really strong and getting closer to 5 minutes, but had not reached that point yet.  I decided to call my mom and Nikki to have one of them come over to watch the girls and take Andelyn to school.  As we were waiting for Nikki to come we were getting ready to leave for the hospital.  By that time my contractions were very strong and it was clear that our little one was on her way!!! The second Nikki got here we jumped in the car.  My contractions at that time were 5 minutes apart.  In the car ride they were now only 2 minutes apart.  By the time we got to the hospital check-in area they were 30 seconds apart!!!!!!  As we were checking in there was a woman who was to be induced checking in and of course taking her sweet ol' time.  You could tell that Vagner was getting really nervous, because it was clear to EVERYONE that I was in labor!! I sat down on the couch and had to check in from there because I couldn't even stand up at that point.  When they finally came to take me back which seemed like an eternity (I'm sure it was really only a minute or two), I couldn't even walk to the room because my contractions at that point were constant.  They ended up getting a wheelchair to get me to the room quick.  When I got to the room the pain was so strong that making it from the wheelchair to the bed was a struggle.  Since I could barely move the nurses started ripping my clothes off to get me ready.  All of a sudden I had a room full of nurses and all the supplies ready for delivery.  As the delivery nurse was checking me to see how far along I was, before she could finish she was on her phone with Dr.  Bierer saying, "Dr. Bierer Rachel Soares is complete, you need to get here IMMEDIATELY"  after that I said, "you're not going to give me an epidural, are you!" They of course responded "no, sweetheart there's no time."  This had turned into the delivery that I never planned on!!! At that point the nurses were just trying to keep me calm until my Dr. got there, but Dr or not the baby was almost here.  I told Vagner to call my family to have them come immediately.  I really wanted them there especially because with our last baby, Lyvia, they didn't make it to the hospital because she came so fast.  But it looked like they weren't even going to think about being there this time either.  Before I knew it Dr. Bierer was there and they told me to push.  Kaitlyn was working in the ER that day and she actually saw me being registered so she ran up to my room just after the nurses said ok "PUSH"  she could see how much pain I was in and clearly heard me outside the room :-/ I just remember Dr B after one push saying, "ok we've got a head," where I respond with, "ok get her out!!!"
We had checked in at 8:55 a.m. and our beautiful little Sienna was here at 9:23 a.m. It all happened SO FAST that they were not able to get me set up to one monitor, and barely were able to get an IV in me.  Definitely not anything that we were planning on.  However, atleast it was fast and "easy" (minus all the pain.)  And atleast it happened when it did so Vagner could be there, because if it happened while he was at work, there's a good chance that he would have missed the birth of his own baby girl!!!

We are so grateful for yes, another beautiful little girl!! She has blessed us so much already and we couldn't be happier to have her in our little family!! WE LOVE YOU SIENNA!!!!!!!!!!

Just when we thought our adventures were over, a couple weeks later we had another one..........
I had just fed the older girls and got them ready for bed and had just barely finished feeding Sienna, when all of a sudden I realized that I had started bleeding.  It took me a second to realize just how much I was bleeding.  I got up immediately from the couch and ran to the bathroom and realized that there was definitely something wrong!  I called my parents to ask them what the symptoms were to hemorraging.  I didn't know, but my parents were at a concert in Salt Lake, they told me that I should go in to atleast the urgent care, but it was already closed and the last thing I wanted to do was go to the ER!!!  So I decided that I would wait a minute to see if it would stop, and of course it did not.  I called Kaitlyn to have her come over beause it was Thursday night and Vagner was at work so I needed help with the girls.  I kept getting more and more nervous by the minute because it kept getting worse.  I called Dr. Bierer and he said that this was normal that a lot of times ten to fourteen days after birth you may start bleeding quite a bit, that it was just your uterus cleaning itself out.  I told him that it wasn't just a small amount of bleeding, and he said that if I was worried to go to the ER, but that it should stop within a few hours.  At that point I was a lot more calmer.  When Kaitlyn got there I decided I wanted to take a shower because there was blood EVERYWHERE.  After a few minutes in the shower I felt like I was going to faint so I started yellling for Kaitlyn.  The next thing I knew Kaitlyn was holding my back and telling me to lay down in the bathtub.  I layed there for a while with the shower on me and started to feel a little better until a few minutes later when I started going in and out of fainting.  Kaitlyn kept saying, "Rachel we've got to go to the ER" finally I gave in.  Kait called Grandpa Jimmie to come over to help me get to the car.  I asked Kaitlyn to help get me dressed.  As we were doing so, I passed out yet again and came to with Kait and Grandpa holding me up in the bathroom.  I was losing so much blood so fast that I couldn't stop passing out.  We made it to the ER and they got me back right away, filled me with fluids, did a whole bunch of tests, ultra sound, etc.  They just figured that it was major post-partum bleeding or that I possibly had part of my placenta that was still attached that finally came detached.  They kept me there for a few hours, gave me a shot to stop the bleeding and contract my uterus, and when I was stable finally sent me home.  It was not a fun experience that's for sure, however, I doing great now!!!
Poor Kaitlyn was a trooper!!! I definitely owe her and I'm sure I've helped prolong her decision in having children anytime soon after going through that experience and having her watch my totally uplanned natural delivery :) Sorry Kait I sure love ya though!!!  As a matter of fact everyone came to my rescue that night!!!!

In the end it was a crazy couple of weeks but we were blessed with our little Sienna, so it was all worth it because she is healthy and happy!!!!!!!!!!
And we have our perfect little family!!!!

Feliz Aniversario Andelyn!!!

Yet another year has gone by and our baby girl is now TWO!!! Where does the time go??!!?? Andelyn is such a little firecracker!! It is so fun to see how much she learns each day! She all of a sudden has started talking up a storm and guess what...I can actually understand most of what she is saying. She loves coloring, anything that has to do with princesses, elmo, singing and dancing, giving sister kisses (smothering baby sister is what mom likes to call it), and of course still LOVES her daddy. I am so grateful for these last two years and for the love and excitement she has brought into our lives. She definitely keeps us on our toes.

Andelyn and Lyvia both had big little milestones this week. Andelyn of course turned two and Lyvia is now three months old. They are growing up SO fast and I wish that they would just slow down a little bit. Even though they are a handful, I wouldn't change anything even if it is practically impossible to get a good picture of a 2 yr old and a 3 month old together but its worth a try, right??!!??

Not exactly the easiest thing to do!!!

.

But you keep trying...

and eventually get one like this

I love you my little divas :)

and another one takes the dive

Getting hitched, tying the know, the I Do's, taking the plunge or dive..... However you want to say it, Kaitlyn and Trevor are finally married!!! It was a beautiful day and I am so happy for them!! However, I'm not ashamed to admit it that I am sure glad it is finally over! I do wish that they would get back from their honeymoon though. Andelyn won't stop asking for Trezor and KK everyday. Anyway, Love you Mr&Mrs Chambers. Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day with you!

Now maybe I can catch up on life :)

2 month celebration at the zoo!

Two months already??? Yep thats right!! I still can't believe how much our little girls have grown in just two months!! These pictures were taken the week Lyvia was born and I can't believe how different she already looks to me!

Even though I am sad that time is going by so quickly, I can't wait until Lyvia is a little bit older so that she can give back a little bit of the love that Andelyn has so "generously" given her. I always have to be so careful when I leave the room, because if I am lucky this is usually what I find......

...Andelyn snuggling up right next to her baby sister. However, more often than not I find Andelyn on top of Lyvia literally smothering her with kisses. She still gives me that look of confusion when I get so upset with her its almost like she is saying "mommy what's the problem I'm just trying to give my baby sister lots of loves and kisses." It's what every mother wants, right??

In all reality I am so happy with the way Andelyn is with Lyvia! She loves her so much and seems to be so patient with us. She has really never shown any jealousy and I am so grateful for that! They truly are best friends and I hope that lasts! Anytime we go anywhere in the car Andelyn grabs Lyvia's hand, no matter how awkward it is and holds it the whole time in the car. It just melts my heart!

Lyvia turned two months old so we decided to go to the zoo to celebrate. Lyvia didn't really notice much, but Andelyn sure enjoyed herself! It was fun to see her get so excited to see all of the different animals, however, I think the carousel was her favorite part!

These last two months have been absolutely wonderful! I never thought there could be so much more room for so much more love in our house, but there is! Lyvia is healthy and happy. I can't believe how much she smiles at her age, but of course she loves to give her daddy smiles and he can even get her to giggle.

Her blessing was last Sunday. What a blessing she truly is in our family. I am so happy and quite proud of our little family! Thank you so much to all those who came and supported us on this special day!

We have been crazy busy these last two months from Lyvia's birth to moving upstairs to birthdays and brazilian bbq's and a baby blessing and school starting to everything else in between including "kind of" potty training....don't let Andelyn's face of excitement fool you for going potty. She has the whole routine down, but for some reason she just doesn't want to actually go potty in the toilet, but she sure has some good fake out and makes you run to the bathroom with her at the speed of light. ( I think she really does know what she's doing and just gets a kick out of watching us adults) anyway, I'm sure it will come soon.

Now hopefully after my sister's wedding this week we might get a chance to relax for a bit, but as for now I am just trying to take it all in and enjoy the ride!!!!!

Lyvia is here!!!!

Lyvia is finally here!! I say finally when in all reality she was 13 days early. I was just done being pregnant. I thought that I would share her labor and delivery story more for personal record, so if you don't want to know the details, don't read any further :) Anyway, for the last two weeks my doctor said that he thought I would deliver at any moment because I was already at a 4 and 80% so it was just a waiting game and the anticipation was killing me. Anyway, on Friday my two sisters, Nikki & Kaitlyn decided it was their goal to try to get me to go into labor so they turned into these two inducing drill sergeants and tried to get me to do anything and everything to go into labor. It was quite funny. We settled for an intense walk and I tell you what it wasn't easy, however it was totally worth it. Later that afternoon I thought that possibly my water had broke but I wasn't sure because there was no gush like you always see on the movies and have nightmares about so I kinda ignored it. I really didn't think much about it because I didn't have any contractions at all. Anyway, towards the end of the night I just felt like I had been leaking all day, but since I was induced with Andelyn I really didn't know what to expect. I called and talked to my mom and she and my dad told me to call the hospital and just see what they think. So I did and they said I should come in just to check to be safe. Well I was in no hurry, especially because Vagner was playing soccer in Murray and because I didn't have any signs of contractions, so I decided to wait until he got home so we could just run up to the hospital real quick. By the time we got to the hospital it was about 11:00 p.m. It seriously took forever for them to check me. When they finally did they told me indeed that my water had broke and that I would be having a baby soon. I was actually really releived! We called my family and told them that we would let them know when it got closer so that they didn't have to sit and wait forever at the hospital. By the time we finally got to our room it was about 1:30 a.m. and I was hooked up and ready to go. The first nurse said she predicted that I would give birth anywhere between noon and 4 p.m. Boy was she wrong!!! When the nurse checked me at about 3:00ish I was at about a 3, at about 3:30 she came rushing in and said that she thought I was progressing a lot more than she imagined and boy was she right! I had gone from a 3 to an 8 in less than an hour so we decided to hurry and call my family-still thinking we had a little bit of time, but still told them to hurry. Sadly to say, Brooke and Kaitlyn were the only ones who made it because I went from an 8 to a 10 in less than 7 minutes and Lyvia wasn't waiting for anyone or anything!!! I pushed twice and she was here!! It was seriously so easy!! She was born at 4:05 a.m. on Saturday the 9th and weighs 6 lbs. 8 oz. and is 19 inches long. She has so much dark hair and is just as beautiful as her big sister was. My parents and Nikki were able to hear her first cry because they made it to the door when she came. Woops sorry guys you can definitely blame Lyvia for that one. We are so excited and she has absolutely already stolen our hearts!!

I have been so curious to see how Andelyn is going to act around her. She came to visit and was SO excited!!! We let her sit on the couch and hold Lyvia and she thought that she was the neatest thing in this world. She just kept saying "baby sister" and kept getting everyone's attention to make sure they looked at the baby. She was giving her kisses about every five seconds. I sure hope this lasts!!! Any time someone would try to have a turn to hold Lyvia Andelyn would yell no and pull her back so no one could have her. She eventually let others have a turn, but only if they would let Andelyn sit on their lap while she held her baby sister. It was so cute.

Anyway, that is Lyvia's story of how she came into the world and we couldn't be happier!!! Lyvia will have to thank her inducing drill sergeant aunts later.

Thanks to all of our family, friends and loved ones who have been so sweet and kind to help us we love you all!!!

Gagoon

This weekend was a lot of fun! Vagner's work has a day each year at Lagoon (or Gagoon as Andelyn would say) Vagner has been working like CRAZY!! He is going to Weber for the summer semester full time and is working full time as well. He goes to school everyday from about 8:30-1:00 and is off to work by 3:00 and gets home anywhere from 2:30-4:00 a.m. But he only has two more weeks left--Woohoo!! Then maybe I will have a husband again for atleast a few weeks :) Since we don't get a lot of play time with his crazy schedule we decided we needed a fun day at Lagoon. I don't know what was more fun, watching Andelyn on all of the kiddie rides or Vagner. Vagner has so much fun at places like this and I love watching his excitement. He's just like a little kid!!! He decided that he wanted to do the giant bungy jump swing thing. It was hilarious! That's one thing to check off his list. Now he is saying sky diving is next. We'll see!

Andelyn's favorite was without a doubt the boats. Just look at that smile!!! I just love seeing her giggle and laugh with Kamryn. She sure loves to be around her, and I am glad they have each other. (When they're not fighting that is) I guess its just preparation for what's soon to come.

She wasn't too sure about the carousel

However the boats we didn't even have to ask!!!

It's amazing how I can fall even more and more in love with my sweet daughter each day! How can you not??!!??

She is repeating everything and her personality shines more and more each day. We decided that one word to describe her is simply "sensitive" and not necessarily in a bad way. She loves to cuddle and cries for no given reason, yet has the most vibrant little smile. She loves to laugh and give kisses and of course still dances everywhere she goes. She is so in love with her baby dolls right now and I sure hope that lasts!! Honestly, I wouldn't change one thing about her. I have LOVED the time that the two of us have had this last 20 months. It will be something very difficult for me to give up. I feel so blessed to not only have her but my wonderful husband and second princess that is soon on her way. I seriously feel like I have been pregnant FOREVER!!! However, I still can't believe that I only have a little over 6 weeks left! I feel like I have so much to do to prepare for her arrival. Hopefully I will be able to get it all done.

Well not much excitement going on here, but we are happy!!!

Our little bun...

Today we went to our big target ultrasound to receive very good news!! Our baby girl is doing just perfectly! The tech said that she is exactly on target and that everything looks great. She is 1lb 8oz right now and doing all sorts of flips in my belly. I always feel so much better after this ultrasound. Its just great to know that everything looks so good. There were two things that our ultrasound tech kept saying; "Perfect...just perfect" and "Look at those lips!!!" (She is going to be thanking her daddy for that one!) We just feel very excited and blessed that everything is going so well! It still hasn't sunk in that there really is another little one coming. Hopefully that will kick in soon before she gets here. Just thought we would update that our little bun in the oven is doing GREAT!!

and....for our other little muffin or our little FURACAO (which means "hurricane" in Portuguese), she is just that!!!! I can't believe how fast Andelyn has been growing! She loves to throw tantrums lately and climb on everything, especially the kitchen table. She is definitely trying to find her independence and doesn't care who tries to get in her way. She is full of so many words from "Elmo" to "boca" to "bebe" to "macaco" to "oh no" to her first sentence, "where'd the kitty go?" she picks and chooses what words she likes in which language. She is so much fun! She has absolutely LOVED playing outside and exploring when there have been sunny days. She has such a sweet side to her and loves to give cuddles. I try to talk to her about a new baby coming every day, but I know she has no clue what I'm talking about. (Guess she'll understand when the little one is here).

I get so overwhelmed with the love I feel when I think how much the Lord has blessed us.
